EOS M 280

The EOS M 280 is an industrial-grade, research-focused powder bed fusion (PBF) printer that is being equipped with in situ imaging capabilities for studying the physics of the PBF process, and how they are affected by print process parameters.

The machine comprises a process chamber with recoating system, elevating system and platform heating module, an optical system with laser, a process gas management system, a process computer with process control software, and a set of standard accessories.

  • 400 W Yb-fiber laser, approx. 80 μm spot size
  • 250 X 250 X 325 build volume
  • Ar (external) or N2 (internal generation) shielding gas
  • Core materials: 316L
  • Compatible materials: stainless steel (316L, 304, 15-5, 17-4), aluminum (AlSi10Mg), nickel-super alloy (Hastelloy-X, IN 625, IN718), titanium (Ti6Al-4V, Ti 553), cobalt-chrome
  • Typical powder size distribution: 10-50 μ m
